Sondheim on Sondheim Cancels May 5 Matinee Due to Stars' Illness; Evening Performance Will Proceed

Roundabout Theatre Company cancelled the May 5 matinee performance of Sondheim on Sondheim at Studio 54 due to the illness of cast members Vanessa Williams and Erin Mackey. The two actresses share an understudy (N’Kenge), and the company needed additional rehearsal time before mounting the show with both of them absent, according to a press statement.

The 8:00PM performance of the musical revue will proceed after an afternoon rehearsal period. In addition to Williams and Mackey, the cast of Sondheim on Sondheim includes Barbara Cook, Leslie Kritzer, Norm Lewis, Euan Morton, Matthew Scott and Tom Wopat.
